Work statement or description

I focused on the symbolism of the lotus in Korean traditional patterns and expressed it using discarded materials. The aesthetics of the lotus lies in its deep roots in the mud, its power of life steadily rising above the shaking and turbulent water, and its refined beauty blossoming into the air. This signifies strong vitality and is the crystal of perfect beauty. I paid special attention to the darkness gradient with material and allowed light to reveal the bloom of flowers. I was able to recreate a crystal that donned these imperfections and later showed them in an elegant manner.

한국 전통 문양에 나타난 연꽃의 상징성에 주목하고, 버려진 재료를 사용하여 표현했습니다. 연꽃의 미학은 진흙 속 깊이 뿌리를 내리고 거센 물살 위로 쉼 없이 솟아 오르는 생명의 힘, 당당히 피어나는 정제된 아름다움에 있습니다. 이는 강한 생명력을 의미하며 완전한 아름다움의 결정체입니다. 불완전한 재료를 사용하여 어둠의 기울기를 다채롭게 표현하고 재 배열하여 빛이 담긴 만개한 꽃으로 재탄생 시켰습니다.

Work technical description

This craft collection consists of discarded brass pieces from laser factory production. These pieces were palm-sized plates that were left over after laser cutting the actual product. I was interested in pieces with irregular and various holes, so I collected them and started working with them. First, we made basic plates by connecting them to each other by welding brass, and then welded them together to form a three-dimensional shape. The finishing touch was polished manually to resemble a beautiful lotus flower.

이 공예품 컬렉션은 레이저 공장 생산에서 버려진 신주 조각으로 구성됩니다. 이 조각들은 실제 제품을 레이저 절단하고 남은 손바닥 크기의 판이었습니다. 불규칙하고 다채로운 구멍은 흥미로웠으며 우리의 인생과 닮아 있었습니다. 수집하여 재료를 모으고 본격적으로 기본 판형을 만든 뒤 연결 및 용접하여 레이어로 이루어진 입체 조형을 완성하였습니다. 수작업 마감처리로 본연의 연꽃을 추상하였습니다.
